What a Day at the Aurora Lit Fest!

I’m still smiling from today’s Aurora Lit Fest at the Aurora Branch of the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library — what a beautiful gathering of local voices, readers, and community spirit.

First, a heartfelt thank-you to the incredible librarians and staff who made the day seamless and welcoming. Your warmth, organization, and genuine support for local authors created such a special atmosphere. You reminded us all how important libraries are — not just for books, but for connection.

To my fellow authors: It was an honor to share space with you. Whether you are writing fantasy, memoir, poetry, or children’s books like mine, your passion showed. I loved hearing the “why” behind your stories. We’re all trying to shine light in our own way, and today reminded me just how many ways there are to do that.

As the author of Type One Diabetes A–Z, I’m especially grateful for the chance to raise awareness about type one diabetes. So many parents, teachers, and kids stopped by with thoughtful questions and personal stories (proof that even a simple alphabet book can open important conversations). If even one person walked away today feeling more seen or more informed, that’s a win.

Finally, to everyone who came out, thank you. I appreciate your questions, support for local authors, and willingness to show up with curiosity and kindness. You make events like this matter, and you make them fun!

With gratitude,
Ellie
