17 Nov A Heartfelt Thank You to Barnes & Noble
This past weekend, our community was reminded of the power of generosity—and the magic that happens when people come together for a shared purpose. We are deeply grateful to Barnes & Noble Springfield, MO, for hosting a special event in support of the Tee 1 D Diabetes Foundation, including a book fair where a percentage of the day’s sales went directly toward helping families impacted by type one diabetes (T1D). Their kindness and enthusiasm turned an ordinary day of shopping into something truly meaningful.
One of the highlights of the event was Ellie’s reading of her book, TYPE ONE DIABETES A–Z. Listening to her words—honest, hopeful, and rooted in lived experience—reminded us just how powerful books can be. They educate, they comfort, they spark conversation, and, most of all, they bring people together. And, that’s exactly what happened. We met new friends who bravely shared their T1D stories for the first time. We welcomed volunteers eager to make a difference. We reconnected with familiar faces who have walked this journey alongside us for years. The aisles became meeting places; the checkout line turned into a space for support; and the entire store felt like community.
In the spirit of Diabetes Awareness Month, this event was more than a fundraiser—it was a celebration of connection, advocacy, and hope. Awareness grows when people come together, speak openly, and uplift one another. Barnes & Noble helped make that possible, and we are truly thankful. We also appreciate fellow volunteer and beloved educator, Mary Lou Foss, and Rachel and Trey Watson, founders of Tee 1 D Diabetes Foundation. To everyone who attended, supported, or simply paused to learn more, thank you. Your presence and kindness help strengthen the T1D community every day.
With gratitude,
Megan
